Ben Tate. London based. Service Designer.
I am a service designer with 18 years arts, design and service development experience. I am currently the Head of Service Design and Standards for the UK Government. I have a background in fine art, graphic design, UX and UI design, web development, service design, service management and design leadership.
Design leadership
I'm currently the Head of Service Design and Standards programme, responsible for changing how government works, with the goal of ultimately improving government services.
Service design
I have worked at GDS as the Lead Service Designer for Data Infrastructure, GOV.UK Verify and Service Design and Standards programmes.
Service management
I have previously worked as Development Team Manager for the Islington Service Development Team, responsible for local business services.
Web development
I work with a number of private clients from large businesses to start-ups, designing, developing and maintiaining their online estates.
UX and UI design
I started working as a web designer in college but started professionally for City of London and Islington Councils.
Graphic design
I have worked as a graphic designer for nearly 15 years with many clients, across numerous print and digital product campaigns.
Fine art
I studied art and design at Stroud College and London Guildhall University. I have a Masters in Painting from UAL and worked as a painter in London for three years.
