Brief

As part of new EU accessibility regulations, GDS has taken on the responsibility of delivering the monitoring and reporting function on behalf of the Minister of the Cabinet Office. GDS sees this as a opportunity to increase capability and quality of web accessibility across the public sector.

Objectives
  1. Support the Accessibility team to take a service design approach
  2. Show how different areas of support, monotoring, assurance and reporting fit together
  3. Ensure the Accessibility team have content design support
  4. Understand GDS's statutory responsibilities as part of new UK regulations
  5. Provide a structure for prioritising reasearch
  6. Understand the scope of the work and break it down
  7. Create a shared langauge around the problem
Approach
  • Visualise the policy and service landscape
  • Moscow the EU Implementing Act
  • Create critical timelines chart for policy, delivery and funding
  • Work with Head of Accessibility to design a team to support the service
  • Bring product and design thinking into the team
